Today we mourn the death of several people in the city of London after apparent terrorist attacks on the public transport system.

Today also marks the death of my last grandparent, my maternal grandfather, from heart failure. At the age of 88, and with a birthday of 11 September, I joked tonight that he certainly went out with a bang.

The funeral will probably be on Wednesday, and I would be lying if I said this won’t affect me very deeply. Many memories of the deaths of other family members, not least my father, have risen throughout the afternoon and evening.

If I don’t think about it, I’ll be okay, but there’s so much reminding me of this loss, especially the coincidental London attacks.
